Koh Similan (Koh Pad) is situated in Phang Nga province, in the South of
Thailand. It is a very beautiful island
that you must not miss if you plan to visit Similan Islands. It is the largest island of the Similan
islands and well-known as one of the most significant symbols of Similan Islands
National Park.
The island is very popular among tourists. Most of them love to come to sunbathe at the
beautiful beach in the front of the island.
And one of the most favorite activities of the tourists are diving and
snorkeling at the back of the island. Although
the coral reefs here are not much beautiful like other places, you will surely
be excited with many beautiful big fish that are swimming around you.
The outstanding view of this island is the large stones which
look like sailboat facing over the white beach and crystal blue water. That’s why people call the rock as “Hin Rea
Bai”. “Rea Bai” in Thai means “Sailboat”.
In the meantime, you can walk up to the top of the “sailboat”
rocks for a wonderful panorama of the island.
It will take approx. 10 – 15 minutes.
From the top, you will obviously see the different shade of
the water below; the water that is close to the beach is clear blue, green,
dark blue and midnight blue in the deep sea respectively. It is
very magnificent view!
And the highlight of the trip for this island is to admire
the sunset at the top of the rocks which is very wonderful and I am much
impressed indeed!
