Prasat Hin Phanom Rung is situated on the top of the mountain. It was built from sandstone and it is another great sample of beautiful architecture which was influenced from Khmer. The door frames and walls were carved neatly and beautifully as well.
It is so amazing that you can see sunlight exactly through 15 doorways of Prasat Hin Phanom Rung. This event normally occurs 4 times a year :
1) approx. 5 - 7 March : sunset through 15 doorways
2) approx. 3 - 5 April : sunrise through 15 doorways
3) approx. 8 - 10 Sept. : sunrise through 15 doorways
4) approx. 5 - 7 Oct. : sunset through 15 doorways
By the way, it depends on the weather during those days; i.e. if there are a lot of cloud, in rainy or winter season, it will be hard to see the sun.
If you plan to travel to Thailand in April, you are invited to visit Prasat Hin Phanom Rung to see the beautiful historical park of Thailand and to attend the Light & Sound Show which is held annually in the beginning of April. It is a great event with various shows; i.e. light and sound, local dance show, etc.
