Muay Thai, One of the Most Famous Sport of Thailand

If you love fighting, Muay Thai is recommended for you to see while you visit Thailand.  Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is one of the most famous sport of Thailand.  It is well-known all over the world as there are various types of blows such as forward and backward elbow strikes, knee strike, swing and reversing kicks, foot jabbing, etc, which are very amazing.  Especially in the old days, those blows were in beautiful manners.

Muay Thai is considered to be as the art of self-defense like other martial arts. (hand-to-hand fighting)  I can say that everyone, no matter he is a man or a woman, a boy or a girl at any age (the youngest one whom I have ever seen is 7 years old) can learn and practice Muay Thai, even you!

By the way, the most significant thing that makes Muay Thai differ from Western Boxing is "Wai Kru" which most foreigners love to see.  It is the one that you have never seen anywhere else before!  "Wai Kru" is the way that Thai boxers pay homage to their teachers.  They do this at the beginning of each fight.  When the Thai traditional music starts, the two boxers go up to the stage and present the Four-Faced Prome dance which signified four virtues; compassion, temperance, prudence and justice.

Besides, another remarkable thing is that every Thai boxers wear ceremonial headband which can be obviously seen.  This may represent their auspiciousness.  Their teachers themselves remove the headband from the boxers when the "Wai Kru" finish.  And then their teachers give prefight instruction to the boxers before the boxers go into fighting.  Actually, Thai boxers fight 3 minute rounds alternated by 2-minute rest period.

If you are planning to travel to Thailand, Muay Thai, which is one of the most famous sport of Thailand, should not be missed from your traveling schedule!   Come and see it by yourself!

Doi Inthanon, A Popular Destination of Thailand

A warm welcome to Doi Inthanon!  It remarks as the highest mountain in Thailand.  (2,565 meters above sea level)  Doi Inthanon was declared as Thailand's National Park and it is well-known as a popular destination of Thailand.  It is situated in Chieng Mai, in the Northern Part of Thailand.  In my opinion, it is a good place to see excellent views and wonderful natural beauty.  There are fantastic views of the surrounding mountains from the top.  And you can take photos with the huge sigh stating "The highest spot in Thailand" when you are at the top of the mountain.

It is actually rather cool throughout the year.  Last time that I visited Doi Inthanon was in January which is the coldest month of the year.  I was really happy to visit there as the weather was very fine for me.

Apart from the weather, there are a lot of majestic and magnificent waterfalls that you can pay a visit and take some relaxation.  Among those waterfalls are :

1Mae Klang Waterfall

It is the first waterfall that you can see on the road to Doi Inthanon as it is located at the foot of the mountain.  It is the largest waterfall which is very beautiful and impressive.

2Mae Ya Waterfall

It is considered to be the highest waterfall in Thailand.  Many travelers love to take tons of photos due to the beautiful widening series of steps.  (drop 100 meters in cascade form)

3Vachiratharn Waterfall

It is halfway up to Doi Inthanon so it is a good break to visit there for some relaxation.  It is a nice waterfall for you and your family.  It is very beautiful.  It is very amazing that you can get wet when you go closer to the waterfall as the water runs fast from the top.

Apart from waterfalls, there are some lovely gardens with beautiful cold-climate flowers.  I can say that they are all incredible flowers indeed.  They are also great places to see various attractive plants as well.  Those beautiful plants are covered in very pretty flowers.  The places are full of drama and color at the moment you arrive!   They are ones of the remarkable places that you won't miss!

Moreover, if you are a bird-watching lover, Doi Inthanon is highly recommended for you as it is considered to be one of the best place in Thailand for bird-watching.  There are various kinds of birds making their home in Doi Inthanon National Park.

Furthermore, there are many hill-tribes such as Karen, Hmong, etc.  You can visit their villages to take some beautiful photos and buy some fantastic products that were handed made by those hill-tribes.  Especially if you are a textile lover, you will find some nice souvenirs of traditional Karen weaving and textile at the Karen weaving village; i.e. Ban Pha Mon, Ban Mae Ab Nai, etc.  And the Hmong's embroidered clothing are very colorful as well.

As you can see, those are the main reasons why Doi Inthanon is a popular destination of Thailand.  You are highly invited to see those beautiful scenery by yourself.  Have a happy and wonderful traveling!

Most Thai people are Buddhists so you can see many temples or Wats all over Thailand from North to South or from East to West.  For Thai people, Buddhist temples provide relaxing places for someone who would like to have a break from some anxiety.  They are very quiet places and you will have a peace of mind while staying there.  (you will experience a sensation of tranquility and peace)  For you, as a foreign tourist, you will also find those temples very wonderful esp. in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand.  There are a lot of temples that would be highly recommended for you to visit as you will see here below top lists of temples that you won't miss:

1Wat Phra Kaew or The Emerald Buddha

This is the most important Buddhist temple in Thailand.  The Emerald Buddha which was carved from jade is situated here.  The King changes the robes covering the Emerald Buddha three times a year; summer, winter and rainy season.  The temple is very beautiful and you can take tons of photos there.

This temple has a very beautiful architectual style and very tall Chedi.  You can climb up the stairs to the top which are a real challenge because the stairs are very steep small and vertical.

This is the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok.  It is also known as the first university of Thailand.  There are a lot of Buddha images (more than 1,000 Buddha images)  The largest Buddha images of Thailand the Reclining Buddha (Phra Buddhasaiyas) is also situated in this temple.  (46 meters long and 15 meters high)

This temple was built entirely by white marbles (imported from Italy) which is very wonderful.  Phra Buddha Chinnarat is one of the most beautiful Buddha images in Thailand.  There are many Buddha images lining in the courtyard.  You are invited to visit this temple in the morning when the Buddhist monks are chanting inside the chapel.

By the way, when you plan to visit Thai temples which are, as you know, considered to be a sacred places in Thailand, you have to dress appropriately and respectfully.  Women must wear skirts or dresses and no sleeveless or revealing blouses.  Men don't go shirtless or don't wear shorts or a bathing suit.  No slippers, sandals, or revealing tops.  When taking photos, please do not sit or lean on the status of Buddha.
